Once you have covered the doorway the project is completed.
Tuck carpet to hardwood.
When installing the strip fold back the carpet and pad so it s out of the way and place the strip approximately 1 2 away from the finished wood floor.
There is also a tool called a carpet trimmer which is much safer but can easily cut the carpet too short if you don t cut slow.
It will be nice and straight if you lay the bar and tack strip straight and are careful when trimming and tucking the carpet.
The gap gulley is where the end of the cut carpeting will tuck into.
For thinner carpet you may want to place it closer and vice versa for thicker carpeting.
When cutting the carpet it must be cut at best an 1 8th inch longer or overlapping the hardwood.
The next step is to carefully cut the carpet.
Installing carpet to new hardwood at a doorway.
Tuck the carpet in between the tack strip and the hardwood with a hook knife using gentle pressure.
